Just a Few Tips on Water Conservation

Commercial and residential greens, and agricultural farming land frequently use far more water, and electricity than is actually necessary. Review some of the innovative systems and products for irrigation water conservation.

Here are a few water conservation tips:

  • Upgrade existing systems with newer components and software control to increase efficiency in electrical use.
  • Install rain sensors and weather stations that allow you to measure exact moisture on your greens. This allows you (through software control) to vary water usage on a daily basis, there is not much point in watering greens when it just rained.
  • Install lightning detectors and freeze sensors to shut down your landscape irrigation system at the first sign of potential danger to the system
  • Install software that allows “zone control” of the irrigated landscaping – meaning that we offer products that allow you to create variable watering areas throughout your green. An example of this is if you have a rock garden with cacti in one area and subtropical foliage in another part of the property, then you can deliver only the water necessary for each plant zone to maintain healthy plants.
  • Install environmentally friendly hardware and drainage piping, copper piping, PVC and other similar items are quite durable and are non-toxic to the immediate soil and plants; and drip irrigation systems.
  • Install backflow preventers and accessories on ponds, lakes, pools, artificial fountains and streams to maintain the water where it should be. In addition, leaking systems just use that much more water.
