Congratulations on a Record Year!

Congratulations on a Record Year!

2021 Was Fantastic. Start Planning Now for a Strong 2022!

You've made it! Look back on all you have accomplished this season with great pride. It was a record-breaker!

It's not too early to start thinking about next season. Here are some ideas to consider now:

Invest in inventory. It may make sense to stock-up on products you will need for 2022 projects before year end. Most manufacturers are planning additional price increases the first quarter. Send us your shopping list. Don't forget some new tools in time for the holidays.

Make year-end tax moves. Consult with your tax professional to plan your profits. Take advantage of reduced taxes on corporate and pass-through income. Enjoy additional tax benefits from funding retirement accounts and equipment purchases made before December 31.

Pick 2-3 key winter projects. Whether you need to work on improving profitability, enhancing worksite efficiency or streamlining your quote-to-cash cycle, choose how you spend the winter months wisely. Get ahead of inflation, backlogs and peak demand. Planning can have a dramatic impact on your job satisfaction in the year ahead.

Take some time over the holidays to review these and plan to win in 2022.

Wishing you a safe and happy holiday season!

Planning a 2-Wire Decoder Project? We Can Help

We can provide the right wire, grounding supplies and splices.

Introduced in the 1960's, 2-wire decoder systems have been part of the golf industry for decades. In recent years, several manufacturers have introduced 2-wire systems for commercial and park sites. They offer simplified installation and a dramatic reduction in the amount of wire needed.

With decoder systems, failure to follow correct wiring and splicing procedures is often a cause of premature failure. Use the wiring specifications provided by the manufacturer and select a cable that is compatible with their equipment.

It is never advised to use leftover wire from one project with another brand of system. Nor will it work to substitute plain wire for the specialized cable required for reliable communication within the system. There are many cases where the contractor had to go back and install the correct cable to make the system work properly.

We work closely with Regency Wire and Cable to provide you with manufacturer-approved wire, grounding equipment (plates, rods and grounding material) and 3M brand splices commonly required for your decoder project. Rely on us to get you the materials to make it work right!

Customer Complaining of Water Hammer Noise? Here's the Solution.

Irrigation systems often experience water hammer, which occurs when an irrigation valve rapidly closes as it shuts off and water flowing through the pipe is brought to a quick halt, creating a reversing shock wave in the pipe. Water hammer is notably recognized by a banging noise in a building's piping (which is particularly undesirable early in the morning when the irrigation system is running), and can be destructive to system components or cause pipe connection breaks. Water hammer can be mitigated by installing a water hammer arrestor, such as the Zurn Wilkins 1250XL, into the irrigation system as close as possible to the inlet side of valve that is causing water hammer. Water hammer arrestors absorb the energy of the shock wave like a shock absorber on an automobile when it drives across bumps in the road.

In addition to causing damage to the irrigation system and components, water hammer causes relief valve discharge on reduced pressure principle assembly backflow preventers. This unnecessary and unwanted release of water from the relief valve vent not only violates water conservation regulations, but can range from a small nuisance discharge to a large discharge that could cause flood damage. Water hammer should be prevented to maintain normal operation of the system's backflow preventer.

Another solution for mitigating water hammer is to install a soft-seated, spring-loaded single check valve, such as the Zurn Wilkins 40XL2, on the inlet piping leading to the water hammer source. The single check valve operates as a barrier, preventing water hammer from moving backwards in the pipe past the single check valve and isolating the inlet pipe and components from the negative effects of the shock wave. There are cases where the water hammer shock wave is great enough to require the installation of a water hammer arrestor and a single check valve in the irrigation system.

Whatever method is chosen to mitigate water hammer, preventing it will reduce the premature failure of system components, reduce the chances for pipe connection failures, conserve water, and stop the banging noise.
