Are your team members engaged?
HR professionals use the word "engagement" to mean the level to which employees are motivated to contribute to a company's success.
Here are some tips for creating engagement.
- Connect. Engagement is tied heavily to self-motivation. You can't teach employees to care, but you can make them feel connected to your company's goals and culture.
- Congratulate. Employees who feel respected and appreciated are willing to expend an extra effort to help the company achieve its goals.
- Clarify. Always explain standards and expectations that go beyond just production numbers. Become a performance coach who shares success stories and knowledge.
- Collaborate. Create a team-based atmosphere of mutual trust, respect and understanding. Use team-based goals to get groups to work together and be mutually supportive.
